I believe that I am blessed career-wise. At a very young age, I was fascinated by remote-controlled model sailing boats, more so than model airplanes. The ability to remotely steer a three-foot long sailing boat fascinated me. It still does. I wanted to build ‘such things’ (whatever that meant). That’s why I pursued engineering. Engineering is a means to an end, a practical application of the Laws of Physics providing the tools to create solutions from an idea. It is thrilling, empowering in more ways than one. One day I wondered; wouldn’t it be nice to make a living from my ideas? You bet! Hence ESDL was born, which now has evolved into SENS Innovation Group. Decades onwards from my first model sailing boat, I am still doing engineering and am as fascinated as I was, if not more. I like to meet with clients, whom my colleagues and I treat as our partners on the trail to develop better, more useful, products and solutions. What better way to devise products which have value, than to listen to the needs arising from pains that clients experience? Life is not just about work. A good book, cooking a tasty meal, an Aikido session, music (listening and playing), short breaks abroad to experience the particular culture and culinary delights, and a fascination with objects designed with consideration to function and form, make for a more interesting and richer life.
